Beaches Ocho
Rios will close on May 31, Sandals Resorts International (SRI) officials announced.
The Jamaican property will subsequently undergo a ¡°major renovation¡± under third-party
owner Guardian Resorts Jamaica Ltd.
Beaches Ocho
Rios is the only SRI resort owned by a third-party group, said SRI officials,
who envision ¡°the possibility of a continued relationship¡± following the
renovation.
The Jamaica
resort¡¯s closing follows SRI¡¯s $1 billion plan to expand the Beaches brand with new
resorts, expansions at existing properties and the launch of Beaches resorts in
new destinations.
Treasure Beach Village
at the existing Beaches Turks & Caicos resort will open in the spring of 2026,
while new properties Beaches Runaway Bay on Jamaica¡¯s North Coast, Beaches
Barbados and Beaches Exuma in the Bahamas will open over the next several
years, according to SRI officials.
¡°As we prepare
for this next chapter of growth, our focus will be on developing and enhancing
resorts where we can have the greatest impact on shaping the guest experience
at every level,¡± SRI officials said.
Added SRI, ¡°While
we will always cherish the unforgettable memories made at Beaches Ocho Rios, we
look forward to continuing to welcome guests and new families to our expanding
collection of world-class Caribbean resorts.¡±
